Mr. Huvard began practicing law in 1979, and began a law partnership with Mr. Harberg in 1983. Mr. Huvard has a broad-ranging and multi-faceted legal practice, with expertise in business and real estate transactions and commercial litigation.
Corporate and Business Transactions: Mr. Huvard has worked extensively in the area of corporate, real estate and commercial business transactions, joint ventures and start-ups, including complex acquisitions. He has expertise in the acquisition, development, management, finance and disposition of shopping centers, office buildings, industrial properties, multifamily housing and single-family dwellings. He has acted as counsel to both domestic and international concerns.
Litigation: Mr. Huvard’s practice includes representation in trial and appellate work in both state and federal courts with all types of civil litigation, including mediation, commercial and real estate-related and partnership disputes, insurance, contracts, secured transactions, and corporate and shareholder derivative actions. He is versed in Texas-based employment issues, having handled an employee-benefits claim which was appealed to the United States Supreme Court.
Education: The Colorado College (B.A. Magna Cum Laude, Economics, 1976); and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1978).
Admissions: State Bar of Texas (1979); also admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and United States Supreme Court.
